Checklist ROAI 2026 Selection Camp – Theory Test · T task
Theory Test (21 problems)
Written theoretical paper of 21 problems on search, classical machine learning, deep learning, generative models and reinforcement learning.
The task
The paper, titled 'ROAI International Olympiad Selection', contains 21 problems, each worth 10 points and divided into sub-questions: (1) The Unpopular Game — modelling the rewards (minimax, alpha–beta); (2) RepVGG and structural re-parameterisation; (3) receptive fields and dilated convolutions; (4) LSTM dynamics; (5) cross-attention in text-to-image diffusion; (6) LoRA in generative models; (7) uniqueness of the SVM solution; (8) The price of tomorrow (MDP discount factor); (9) BPTT; (10) Transformers; (11) Blackjack with Monte Carlo; (12) Q-learning update; (13) comparison of estimates; (14) k-medoids; (15) Gaussian mixture models; (16) Parzen kernel density estimator; (17) support vector machine; (18) principal component analysis; (19) document analysis; (20) ensemble methods (bagging, voting, random forests); (21) computer virus (classification metrics).
The authors listed are Anamaria Rădoi, Liviu Ciortuz, Alex Dumitrașcu, Carla Crivoi, Mario Enache, Laurian Iacob, Radu Miron and Rareș Stanciu. An official marking scheme with full solutions is published separately.
